Find the Volume

Volume is the number of cubic within a space.  What is the total number of cubic units in this shape?  How did you figure it out?

Reminder: Mention the dimensions you are using in your post.  Label what the numbers you are using represent.

  2. I think it will be 64 cubic units because I did length times width and then i got 16 and then i added it 4 times for height and got 64-Joshlyn

    1. I did 8x2 and i got 16 than i did 16x4 and i got 64

  3. I did length x width which is 8 x 2 to find the base which is 16. Then I found the height which was 4 and did 16 x 4 = 64. The volume is 64.

    1. I forgot to put cubic units. The volume is 64 cubic units.

    2. i agree with you because i found the exacted same length and width

  4. 8 times 2 =16 and then 16 times 4 =64 because 16+16+16+16=64 because 16+16=32 and 16 +16=32and 32+32=64

  5. i found my base by doing L(8) x w(2)=16 16 x 4 layers= 64 cu. units

  6. i found the of L=8x w=2 16x4=64

  7. I found my answer by multiplying the b=LXW. So 8x2=16 16=16=16=16=64 or 16+16=32 32+32=64

  8. 8x2=16 16x4=64 that is my answer

  9. L=8 W=2 8x2=16 H=4
    B=16
    Decompose the 16. 16
    ................................../\
    10 6
    10 x 4 = 40
    6 x 4 = 24
    40 + 24 = 64
The volume is 64 cubic units.

    1. I like how you decomposed the 16 to make it easier to multiply! Great strategy.

  10. I think the volume is 64 cubic units. I got this by do 2 x 8=16 and then I did 16 x 4=64. Michael Huskey posted this.

  11. i got 64 because i added 2 times 8 and got 16 and added 16 times 4 and i got 64 is that right

    1. that is correct because i wrote out 4 16 times and i got the same exact answer as you

  12. Height: 4
    Length: 8
    Width: 2
    8 x 2 = 16
    16 x 4 = 64
    Volume is 64 cubic units

    1. I agree with you because you did all the things you need to do to get the volume of the shape.

  13. I think it is 64 because the width was 8 and the length was 2 then i multiplied them and then i was finding the height. The height is 4 and i added 16 because that equals 8 times 2 so i added 16 4 times and it equaled 64. This is JACKIE MANCINI Who wrote this. Please ask question or say if you agree or disagree. THANKYOU!!

    1. I agree on the way you did 8 times 2 and the 16 times 4.

    2. Great job Jackie! Multiplying the the length and width was a great first step. What were you trying to find when you decided to multiply the length and width first?

  14. i got 64 because i got 16 cubic units for the base and then i multiplied 16 times the height which was 4 and i got 64 cubic units.

  19. 8 times 2 = 16 so u are supposed to add 16 4 times because u get the 4 from the hight cause the hight is 4 so u add 16 4 times and thats how i got 64

  20. I got 50 cubic units because I did 16 X 3 and I go 50.

    1. that is what i did at first but i got 48 but i for got the one i could not see so i did 4 x 16 in stead of 3 x 16

    2. Good advice. The base counts as part of the height, then there are 3 more cubes added on. What would the total height be? By the way, how did you come up with 16? You are on the right track!

  21. I think it's 64 because if you do length times width you get 32 then you do 32 times 2 and get 64

  22. i did base x height the base was 16 and the height was 4 so 16 x 4 = 64

  23. 8times2=16 so u get the 4 from the hight and get 16 and add 16 4 times and u get 64. shelby hardesty

  25. i think it is 64 because the base is 16 and the height is 4 so times 16 times 4 = 64 LL

    2. You should explain more why Mrs Harris is right using numbers

  27. I think Mrs.Harris is correct because I did 4x3=12. Then I did 12/6=2, and they I did 2+8=10. Michael and Gavyn

  28. I think Mrs. Harris is right because I did 4x3=12. Then I did 12/6=2. Last I did 2+8=10
